'Were I called on to define, very briefly, the term art, I should call it 'the Reproduction of what the senses perceive in nature through the veil of the mist' ~ Edgar Allan Poe
I love nature, and am in awe of what God surrounds us with. I'm content in capturing that quiet beauty.
Creative born, my first Christmas memory was opening a box filled with paper, crayons, fingerpaints, paints and brushes. I've been playing with 'my toys' ever since.
I am a self-taught artist, having done some work in watercolor and acrylic. In April of 2008 I picked up my first pastel. The richness of the pigments, their forgiving nature, and my love of nature seem to go hand in hand. With my fingertips being the paintbrush, I've returned to the days of that first Christmas present, and and the simple joy of painting with my fingers.
Original artwork is offered for sale through me personally, and comes matted and framed to preserve the delicate nature of pastel.
Capturing moments in time through photography has been a passion of mine since elementary school. I cannot ever remember going anywhere without a camera in hand. Recently I have been urged to share some of my photography. If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to email. I welcome any and all comments.
My work is displayed for sale at Art at the Market Gallery in Flint, MI, and at The Gallery in Swartz Creek, MI
I set up at local art festivals occassionally. Please visit my blog to see where I'll be next. http://cathy-weaver.blogspot.com
